Tourism a Boon or Bane?
Our summer project aimed to explore the Social Development sector and have an intense learning experience in Ladakh, a state noted for its competence in sustainability, alternative education, and development. It is the only place that can cause sunburns as well as frostbites, thus Ladakh withstands extreme conditions yet people survive and thrive as best they can, and we went on to experience all of the struggles and triumphs. Ladakh is famous for its beautiful natural landscapes, Buddhist monasteries, and clean environment surrounded by mountains. These features attract many tourists each year. Tourism has a big impact on both the economy and the environment of Ladakh. In our documentary, we explore whether tourism is good or bad for Ladakh by talking to the local people. We wanted to understand how tourism affects their lives and their beautiful region.
